Hey everyone!
So Im a little late to writing this post, okay I'm a lot late, but things have been crazy busy lately, and I'm getting super duper close to finishing my uni summer project (hurrah!). It's been lingering around for SO LONG so I'm finally excited to fully get back into what I love to do the most.
One question I always get asked when it comes to my illustration work is "how do you select what people you want to draw?", and i'll be honest, it's actually a rather difficult question that I dont know how to answer fully. I don't know what it is about a specific image which makes me want to draw whatever or whoever is on there, there's just something inside of me that knows, you know?! I think if I would have to try to explain why I am attracted to certain images, I'd probably have to put it down to a pose, outfit, camera angle, a face, the make up, or something thats beyond the norm, and probably most importantly, the colour schemes and aesthetics.
I am a SUCKER for colour and patterns, I just love them. I am instantly attracted to anything that stands out. I'm the type of person who could get colour or pattern inspiration from anywhere, I could probably walk into a place like IKEA and be like "yup, this pink red and white couch is inspiring me, it'd make a great colour palette for an illustration of some shoes". In many ways its a blessing, in many ways its a curse, as unfortunately for me I cannot carry and randomly whip my illustration media out with me wherever I go!

A Fashion Nerd (Amy Roiland)
If you havent noticed, A Fashion Nerd (Amy Roiland) pretty much DOMINATES my illustration account, and in no way is this a complaint. To get straight to the point, the reason I love to illustrate Amy is due to the fact that she's basically the human equivalent to a rainbow. Ive said so many times that anything colourful, unique or aesthetically pleasing instantly has my love, so I don't really need to explain why I love illustrating Amy.

You'll often find me weeks, maybe even months deep into Amy's blog saving tons of photos to my "to draw" folder. I am completely OBSESSED with her, she's bloody amazing, every post on her insta and blog are always 100001% illustration worthy, I always have so much fun illustrating this gal, so much so she's on the cover of She Is Fierce mag (ahhh!).
Nadia Lee Cohen
If I could be someone for a day, it'd definitely be photographer Nadia Lee Cohen. She's completely drop dead gorgeous. One of the biggest things that I love about Nadia is that she is so unique, so quirky and so memorable in whatever she does, be this her photography or photos of her. Nadia is the type of gal who could wear or do absolutely anything and make it look incredible, seriously incredible. I believe that i've been illustrating Nadia ever since I first started up my illustration account, and I DO NOT intend to stop there. Nadia can pull off so many different looks and personas, hence why I cannot stop drawing her, she's like a range of different people rolled into one, and I think that is what fascinates me, however she may dress, whatever her hair colour is, I just need to draw her.
Whenever I draw Nadia I feel so much pressure because I just HAVE to (at least try to) translate how beautiful she is into an image, but its so enjoyable to do so. I always find myself using a completely different colour palette with every illustration of her, and the journey of seeing my drawings of Nadia come to life are nothing short of exciting, especially when it comes to the final image, because like ive said, every outcome of Nadia is different, but same in the fact that im illustrating Nadia...if that makes sense. Im a huge lover of anything or anyone unique, and Nadia is the definition of that, forever keeping her in the favourite people to illustrate list.
Megan Ellaby
Okay so where do I start? I'm gonna start by saying I bloody LOVE Megan. Possibly THE biggest babe of all time. Utterly gorgeous, completely stylish, and a Mancunian like myself, how much better can you get then that?! (hint, you cant really). Every time Megan uploads an image on Insta its an instant like, no questions asked. As soon as you hit refresh and see Megan's name, boom, theres a straight up like, you dont even have to know what the image is, you just know its gonna be great.
Megan has this power in which whatever she wears, you instantly want it because she makes it look so damn good, no matter what it is. Whatever Megan wears, she wears with such style and confidence, which is something to definitely be inspired by. It's so fun to illustrate Megan, she always wears some funky outfits that can push my illustrative boundaries, and also inspire me and my fashion decisions. I honestly think that Megan's looks can be so varied and so unique, full of patterns and aesthetically pleasing colours, hence why I bloody love illustrating her (including the fact she's just well and truly stunning).
I was actually SO LUCKY to have this babe message me to create a poster for her Charity Clothes Sale at Jimmy's (big up to ya Megan for going through all those designs I sent over!) which is a big thing for a lil illustrative gal like myself! so to cut a long story short, I love Megan, she's a mega mega babe, and I'm hoping she won't get tired of my endless passion for drawing her!
Until next time x
